Your United Kingdom ATPL Connection!

Runwaydata.org is a comprehensive website in support of FAA/Canadian or other ICAO Certificated Pilots who will eventually qualify for the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Professional License. Pilots visiting Runwaydata.org will find this information pertinent, practical & appropriate as an "entry level" gateway to master European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) critical subject content.

A total of two subjects must be passed for the UK ATP License. This is the "G Conversion" which is valid for United Kingdom registered aircraft ("G" registration) for already qualified airline Captains.  Two subjects are tested. The subjects are Air Law & Human Performance & Limitations (HPL).

G Conversion - - OF ICAO ATP (FAA, Transport Canada or the Like)

Transport Category Airline Pilots with a Minimum of 3,000 Hours Total Time on Aircraft having a Maximum Gross Weight of  at Least 30,000kg (66,138.7 pounds) and a Minimum of 1,500 hrs as Pilot in Command on Aircraft of Similar Weight are Candidates for the  United Kingdom License.

For example, An Airbus 319 First Officer with 1,500 hours of second-in-command time in type, upgraded to Captain on the Boeing 737 and now has 1,500 hours as pilot in command. This pilot can seek the "G Conversion" because this equates to 3,000 hours total time & 1,500 hours PIC in the requisite weight aircraft. Please note, the "G Conversion" is valid for aircraft registered in Great Britain.

Beginning the first Tuesday of each calendar month, the EASA ATPL examinations are administered in Orlando, Florida. This is the only approved test site in the continental United States of America. Most pilots arrive a day early preceding the test so that a full "poolside" day can be devoted to rest, relaxation & last minute review.
